CHANGZHOU, China, June 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — On June 18, Airwheel held a news conference at the Wanda Sheraton Hotel in Changzhou where it announced the launch of the Airwheel A3 — one of the two new products released during the conference. Though speculation has been rife about what the A3 might look like, there was basically zero tangible information on it until June 18. As the company puts it, the Airwheel A3 represents a breakthrough in self-balancing scooter technology, as it is the first self-balancing scooter with a saddle that permits the user to sit when riding. It is a breakthrough not only because previous models are either unicycles or Segway-like scooters, where riders can only stand on a platform, whereas riders of the A3 can ride while sitting, but more importantly because the saddle design enables the rider to scoot with the A3 for a longer time without feeling tired or uncomfortable.

Airwheel is always committed to promoting traveling green and alleviating traffic congestion. Therefore, Airwheel aims to make its products an alternative to gas-powered vehicles. While the previous self-balancing Airwheels are suitable for short-distance trips, such as going from home to nearby groceries, or from home to gym, the newly launched Airwheel A3 is designed for long-distance trips and is intended to attract office workers to use it as a commuting tool. Previously, electric scooters are popular mainly among young people. The Airwheel A3, as the spokesman of the company said, targets the mainstream consumer market and may even change the commuting style of urban residents.airwheel_zd

The Airwheel A3 has many other features, such as a electronic brake system, a smart anti-theft system, and a hydraulic shock absorber. There is also an improvement that is worth a special mention — the top speed of the A3 can now be adjusted. The default maximum speed of the A3 is 18km/h (approximately 12 mph), but the user can adjust the maximum speed of the scooter through the Airwheel APP installed on the user’s smart phone which can be connected to the A3 through its wireless interface. airwheel_a3screen
