Renault organized a virtual event last October 15, 2020 at which the Dacia brand launched a trendy new electric hatchback and an affordable new EV. The French automaker, like its partner Nissan, has been at the forefront of the electrification of the European market for some time now. At a new event named “Renault eWays”, the automaker said that it was “dedicated to sustainable mobility today and tomorrow” and introduced two new electric vehicles.
The Renault Mégane eVision
The Renault Mégane eVision is an electric hatchback that will act as the base for the EV development to be launched next year. Renault says the vehicle is fitted with a 160 kW electric motor powered by a 60 kWh battery pack. It is capable of DC fast-charging at 130 kW and has an on-board charger with a max output of 22 kW.

The Renault Dacia Spring Electric
The other electric vehicle that Renault has unveiled is the Dacia Spring Electric. It’s fitted with a super low power 33 kW electric motor that gets energy from a 26.8 kWh battery pack, but a compact form factor and low weight, Renault claims it can still have 225 km (140 miles) of the WLTP range. Renault claims that it will be “the lowest-priced electric city car on the market in Europe”
That “unbeatable price” is expected to be around 10,000 €, which is the equivalent of less than $12,000 USD. It will go on sales in spring 2021 in Europe.
