It was reported that TESLA employees at the Fremont factory received an email announcing that that the Model S & X will stop its production starting December 24, 2020 to January 11, 2021. During this shutdown, employees are still to receive one week of paycheck from January 4 to January 8 but will not receive any from December 28 to December 30.

At that time, employees that are affected can still pick up shifts in other departments of the factory or volunteer on deliveries from December 26, 2020 to December 31, 2020 but slots are limited, so employees need to sign up quickly.

The cause of the shutdown might be because of the low demand for this models. Meanwhile, Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk announced on the same day that to encourage employees to increase production during the last quarter of the year.
