Volcon Electric Minibike for Kids

If you’ve heard of the Texas-based Volcon before, it’s presumably because of the company’s awesome off-road electric motorcycle known as the Grunt. But the brand is now launching a new scaled-down version, which is adorably called the Runt, for children.

Volcon Runt

The Runt looks like a mini Grunt, certainly. It retains the narrower diameter of high-volume fat tyres, and also reduces strength and rpm. While the full-size Volcon Grunt can reach 60 mph (97 km/h), at 35 mph (56 km/h), the smaller Runt tops out.

For most kids, this will still be pretty fast, particularly when rode in its native off-road setting. If 35 mph for your little ones sounds a little fast, don’t worry. App-based parental controls including remote supervision, tip-over warnings, power restricting, and geo-fencing have been included by Volcon.

The choice of geo-fencing seems like a smart one, since the 35-mile (56 km) range of the Runt means your kid could make it over to the next county before you know it’s a little too quiet outside. Recharging is reasonably easy at only two hours from a normal wall plug if your child ever happens to empty the 35-mile range charger.
