Bill Gates commends Elon Musk on climate change effort after being accused of shorting Tesla

Previously, Gates made some comments about electric trucks like the Tesla Semi not being viable, and Musk countered those comments recently, but he also added that he believed that Bill Gates had a very short position on Tesla at some point.

Just a week after making the claim, which was not confirmed by Gates, the billionaire had some fine words about Musk and Tesla.

When asked about Musk on the Sway podcast, Bill Gates said:

Well, it’s important to say that what Elon did with Tesla is one of the greatest contributions to climate change anyone’s ever made.

The founder of Microsoft also added that people should not underestimate it:

And you know, underestimating Elon is not a good idea.

Did he learn the hard way to bet against Tesla? We don’t know because Gates didn’t address Musk’s claim that Tesla had been shortened.

The podcast may have been recorded before Musk made a claim on Joe Rogan’s podcast last week.

Tesla has sometimes been the shortest stock on the Nasdaq, and in 2020 alone, the people who bet against the electric carmaker lost $38 billion.
