Rolling In! Torque Sensor Electric Bike for Only $1200

Price reductions and budget-friendly high-spec offerings are becoming increasingly common in the overseas ebike market. In a previous article on the significant price cuts in the industry due to inventory pressures, it was mentioned that by the end of 2023, overseas ebike manufacturers were experiencing a large-scale price reduction trend. The price reductions have been broad in scope and substantial in scale. For example, Rad Power Bikes conducted a store-wide promotion, reducing the prices of its products, and announced that the promotional prices at the beginning of this year would be the new prices for 2024. The price of RadTrike has already dropped from $2,499 to $1,599.

The decrease in ebike prices is not only due to the impact of high inventory levels but also because of the maturity of technology and the economies of scale achieved through mass production. Furthermore, intensified market competition is prompting manufacturers to attract consumers through price reductions, thereby expanding the market. Many manufacturers are also focusing on technological innovation and upgrades, bringing high configurations to lower-priced models. For example, Propella introduced the Propella 9S Pro V2 at the end of last year, one of the few budget models on the market equipped with a torque sensor.

In the United States, electric bikes equipped with torque sensors typically cost over $2,000, but the Propella 9S Pro V2, introduced last year, is priced at just $1,199, causing quite a sensation. Torque sensors are beloved by electric bike riders for their natural assistance, but to reduce costs, lower-priced electric bikes in the United States typically use cadence sensors.

Propella primarily produces minimalist electric bikes for commuting and urban travel, featuring its iconic blue-black color scheme. However, the new Propella 9S Pro V2 has undergone significant upgrades in terms of performance and configuration, far surpassing previous models.

The Propella 9S Pro V2 is now officially available, offering two frame styles to choose from, including Propella’s original step-through design, as well as a step-over frame.

The battery is integrated into the frame and can be removed, with UL certification to ensure safety.

Although the battery capacity is only 360Wh, it can still provide a maximum range of 88 kilometers under low-power pedal assistance.

The Propella 9S Pro V2 is equipped with a 500W peak-rated rear hub motor. It can reach a top speed of 32 kilometers per hour.

The Propella 9S Pro V2 is a pure pedal electric bike with no throttle-only mode. The torque sensor provides a naturally responsive riding experience.

In addition, other features of the electric bike include a 9-speed transmission system, a headlight powered by the main battery, an adjustable stem, a color LCD screen, mudguards, a rechargeable high-power charger that charges in three hours, and hydraulic disc brakes.

The decline in ebike prices has become a market trend, giving consumers more options to purchase higher-performance or higher-quality ebike products. Additionally, as an environmentally friendly and low-carbon mode of transportation, the reduction in product prices can accelerate the adoption of ebikes globally, allowing more people to travel in a low-carbon manner.
